How You Know It is Time for a New Floor
Floors are designed for the wear and tear of life. In fact, some homes are able to maintain their floors for decades, some even for 100 years, depending on the quality and care. But when it comes to yours, how do you know when it is time?
Let us explain the most common signs for each material.
Carpet. Carpet flooring has the shortest lifespan out of all flooring materials, with about 10 years before it begins to show its age. Common signs you need a replacement are irreversible stains, rips, tears, and matting.
Hardwood. Hardwood floors last for decades if properly maintained and refinished. Thankfully, hardwood floors can be sanded down to look good as new without replacing the floors entirely.
Tile. Ceramic and other tile floorings rarely need to be replaced. However, old tiles show their age through the styling, and grout should be maintained every now and then to ensure proper sealing.
Laminate and vinyl. It is easy to tell when laminate or vinyl floors need to be replaced whether from water damage or age – they will begin peeling off of the ground.
